For about 34 years, as of 2013. I developed an interest in magic at the age of six, gave my first paid performance at 12, and have since performed for tens of thousands of people at numerous venues, including Busch Gardens theme park in Williamsburg, Virginia. To learn more about my background, please read my biography.

I went to the library and studied as many magic books as I could get my hands on, watched live and televised magic shows when possible, and got lots of advice from both amateur and professional magicians throughout the years. When I was still in my teens, I joined a few local and national magic organizations, went to a magic convention, and even attended a magic camp in New York. While the foundation of my magical knowledge was formed years ago, there's always something new to learn and to improve upon. If you'd like to learn magic, you might be interested to know that I also teach and have been doing so since I was 18 years old. If you're not ready to take lessons, feel free to drop me a line, anyway, and I'll be happy to email you a list of recommended magic books and other resources when I have time.

I perform close-up and stand-up magic at corporate, community, and personal events. Examples include trade shows, hospitality suites, sales meetings, company parties, weddings, banquets, and more. The great thing about magic is that it can be customized to fit virtually any event. One of the only exceptions I can think of might be an extremely loud or otherwise distracting environment where the audience might have trouble hearing me perform. I'm a friendly, family-oriented guy with an engaging personality and somewhat quirky sense of humor. And I mean “quirky” in a good way. When I perform, I don't embarrass or challenge anyone, pound nails into my nose, or come across as obnoxious or annoying in any way. I have nothing against nail-pounders or other performers who do physically gross stunts, but that's just not my style of magic.

Yes. While most of my recent performances have been for adults, I have real rapport with children because I like them and have performed many shows for them over the years. I was just a child when I became interested in magic, and I still consider myself to be a big kid at heart. The material I perform for both children and adults is tasteful, funny, and truly amazing. And although my kid-show material is geared for children ages 6 through 12, adults will be thoroughly fooled and entertained as well. (See What is your performing personality like? above.)

Yes. As of 2013, I've taught magic for more than 26 years. Whether you're a child or an adult, magic is one of the most unique, rewarding hobbies there is. It's not just about learning to do a few simple tricks. Anyone who studies magic improves their public-speaking skills, nurtures creativity, develops better hand-eye coordination, and learns about human perception and the true secret of magic—the psychology behind why magic works. Some of my past students have included doctors, attorneys, salespeople, actors, magic-shop employees, and children, from ages 6 to 60. To learn more, please browse the Lessons section of this site.

Magic is my real job. I'm a full-time professional magician and owner of Interval Magic, a sole proprietorship based in San Diego, California. Interval Magic is officially registered with San Diego County and the City of San Diego. While I have a college degree in professional writing and am a former marketing communications professional, I ultimately chose magic as my life's work because I enjoy it so much. To learn more about Interval Magic, please visit the About page of this site.

Although Interval Magic is based in San Diego, California, I'll perform anywhere within the United States and abroad. If you need me to travel to your event, expenses will include my performance fee, airfare, hotel, meals, and ground transportation if applicable.

It depends on the type of event, how long and what kind of magic you want me to perform, and the location. Please call or email me and we'll talk more about your event and particular requirements. I look forward to hearing from you!
